There are no tryouts or cuts, so every player who registers is guaranteed a spot to play in this season which runs from March to May. Our Prep Season is a developmental league designed to help younger players develop their skills on the full-sized diamond and prepare players for our 15U Season.

It includes two weeks of preseason clinic-style practices, a player draft, and an eight week season featuring one practice and two games per week for each team culminating in a fun City Championship Tournament. The league features minimum playing time rules to allow all players a chance to play in each game.

The Prep League is open to all 7th and 8th graders, as well as any high school student not on a high school baseball roster. Full refunds are issued if a player makes his/her high school team and is unable to play Prep, so there is no risk in registering. Registration is $475 and closes March 8.

Join the fun: We’re a volunteer, community-based league, so we welcome all families to apply for Manager/Coaching spots or Board Member roles. Just let us know during registration!

PABR will be running two 3-week sessions of Fall Academy Camp clinics for players 12-16 years old starting September 14 and running to the end of October. The clinic groups will be structured in the same way as the summer sessions; stable groups of no more than 12 players with coaches dedicated to just that group, following social distancing best practices. Each group will have two clinics per week. The cost per each 3-week session will be $175.

However, if you are interested in being placed on a wait list, complete this registration now or email baberuthpabr@gmail.com to indicate your interest. If you are not taken off the wait list, you will receive a 100% refund of your fees.

Open to players 12-18 years old, the PABR Summer 15U/18U League season, regulations permitting, will consist of a 5-week 12-game season plus a one-week tournament (July 6 – Aug 12). If the games/tournament season is canceled or you are not drafted onto a team, you will receive a 100% refund of your fees.

(June 15 Update): The camps portion of our season is now Full, but you can still register for the games portion of our season which we are planning to begin on Mon, July 6, if regulations allow.

After 3 months of sheltering in place, Santa Clara County has reopened youth camps!!! We have booked Baylands and are ready to start playing baseball the week of June 15th.

Our plan is to have players participate in a clinic-style baseball camp for 3 weeks prior to our season. These will be workouts to get back in shape and practice hitting. For these clinic-style baseball camps, we will do early evening workouts on weeknights with groups of 12 players. We will send a survey that will allow for players to request groupings with friends and peers. Throughout the process, we will follow social distancing best-practices.

We are hoping that each player gets about 6 workouts over the course of 3 weeks, after which we will draft to fill rosters to play a full season that includes a City Tournament. We plan to play our season from the week of July 6th to August 10th.

To register now, click Register Now! If for any reason we are unable to play our season after the 3 weeks, you will receive a refund of $300 back from your registration (if you participated in our camps), or a 100% refund if you had only signed up for the games portion. If you had previously registered and are no longer interested, please contact Chris Lillios at clillios@compuserve.com for a 100% refund.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to your 15U team manager or the board via email at ron.fried@sri.com if you have any questions.

Dear Palo Alto Babe Ruth Families,

We wanted to provide this update to all future and returning PABR families.

We are seeing positive trends and are hopeful for youth sports to resume in the near future. The good news is that we are flexible and committed to providing baseball for this community. We are an inclusive league that has zero travel or financial barriers. Our coaches, fields, equipment and umpires are all ready to go as soon as it’s safe to get back out!

We’d like to share our current thinking for a 2020 Babe Ruth season. We are targeting a 2-week workout for players to knock off the rust, hold a draft, then play a 5-week season followed by a 1-week City Tournament. We believe that starting this in early June and concluding at the end of July is possible. In addition to our 15U League, we are exploring a potential 18U Sr. League for players who were unable to have a high school season and for 15’s who want to play in both leagues.

When we resume, we will remain committed to safety and will follow social distancing best-practices. While we do not have all the answers at this moment, we are hopeful to have better clarity around a firm timeline and format within the next 2 weeks. If the season does get cancelled, the League policy is to provide you with a 100% refund.

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to your 15U team manager or the board via email at ron.fried@sri.com if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
PABR Board of Directors

Dear Palo Alto Babe Ruth Families,

With local schools and Baylands now closed through May 1, we will unfortunately have to cancel the Prep Season and begin refunding 100% of the registration to each family this week.

While there is still quite a bit of uncertainty around the 15U Season, we wanted to send an update to our families. If local schools reopen in early May and it is safe for everyone, we will target tryouts for new players and a full 15U Season with Opening Day on May 16. We are also preparing schedules for multiple scenarios that will enable us to fit in our full slate of games even if we need to begin the 15U Season in June. We are just as eager as the players to get back on the field and play some baseball!

If you were registered to play the Prep Season, we strongly encourage you to participate in our 15U tryouts in May in order to get drafted onto a team. Register for our 15U Season at pababeruth.org if you haven’t done so yet. If the season does get cancelled, the League policy is to provide you with a 100% refund.

In the meantime, we will provide weekly email updates and you can visit our website here at pababeruth.org. And if you have yard space to play catch or get some swings in, please do!

As always, please do not hesitate to reach out to your 15U team manager or the board via email at ron.fried@sri.com if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

PABR Board of Directors
