The playoff picture got a lot clearer this week but it came down to the final two games of the season to get that way. With a victory Monday, 6/18, Alhouse-King Realty clinched 1st place as Alhouse owns the tie breaker advantages vs Old Pro and ATV. Corium International earned a place in the League Tournament with a victory over Thomas Transfer on Monday as well. The four teams in the League Tournament are: Alhouse-King Realty, ATV, Old Pro and Corium International. Final seeding is still to be determined. The League Tournament begins on Monday June 25th at Baylands. Click on the "League Tournament" link at the left for more information.
The race for 1st place in the Palo Alto Babe Ruth League stayed hot over the weekend with Alhouse-King Realty ending the weekend's action in 1st place with a 12-4 record. Advanced Technology Ventures defeated Old Pro, 8-1, on Saturday evening at Baylands leaving both teams with identical 11-5 records, one game behind. All three teams have two regular season games remaining. The race for the 4th and final playoff spot is fierce with Corium International at 9-7 and Thomas Transfer at 8-8. In2Change, outside of the playoff hunt, put forth two great efforts in a spoiler role. On Friday, In2Change defeated Corium International, 7-6, and then did the same to Thomas Transfer on Saturday winning 6-1. On Friday night Pillsbury-Winthrop defeated Thomas Transfer, 4-2 and Mathews-Carlson, 5-4 on Saturday, leaving both Pillsbury-Winthrop and Mathews-Carlson with identical 7-9 records with two to play. All of this action has set up key match up between Thomas Transfer and Corium International on Monday, 6/18 at 5 PM at Flood Park in Menlo Park. A win by Corium International would clinch the 4th and final slot for the League Tournament that starts Monday, June 25th at Baylands. Thomas Transfer, with a victory, can force a tie with one game remaining. Should be a great contest, come on out and watch the action!
